What am I running for?
My name is Enrique Hernandez. As a write in candidate, I am running for the Democratic Primary in the Illinois State House District 20.
If conditions keep going as they are, there will be no future for the next generation. We must take action now to turn things around. I am convinced that I am the right person to help lead that change. Supporting my candidacy is the best way to guarantee a brighter future for our families and kids.
It is a shame that people with two jobs and families waiting to move up are still getting promises. People ask us to hand over our hope for a better future and keep pretending that things get better. It is about time that people stop talking and really do what they say. Actions speak louder than words. Illinois is where I came from, and I am determined to make my home better for others too.
Policies drive my campaign, and some of the major points laid down by my policies include:
Guaranteed paid time off: A two, week mandatory vacation period for all workers will be established
Right to repair legislation: Consumers and small businesses will be ensured the ability to fix what they own
AI accountability: Workers' livelihoods, community resources, and energy infrastructure will be protected from uncontrolled automation
Digital Bill of Rights: Online privacy and data security will be guaranteed for all Illinois residents
My entire schooling was focused on how to live through a failing system, how to dodge overwhelming medical expenses, deal with predatory student loans, get ready for inflation that goes up without control, and figure out how to have a retirement when I don't really know what the future holds.
What I wasn't taught, however, was that we have the power to change the system itself. It's not necessary for us to tolerate things like enormous medical bills, student loan debts that are suffocating us, or economic instability as if they were natural. We definitely can create a better Illinois where everyone has the chance to live in dignity and security.
If I get elected, I will:
Listening first: I will let your priorities be my guide
Accountability: I promise that I will never take voters for granted
Independence: I assure you that I will never be bought by corporate interests
Thank you for your vote of confidence.
